EORI is a unique identifier issued by HMRC to businesses that import or export goods. It is required for customs declarations.
A UK EORI typically begins with GB followed by the 9-digit VAT number plus three trailing zeros.
Why verify it
EORI numbers can be deactivated. An invalid EORI on a customs declaration triggers a hold and a delay.
